Our God is Eternal

“But you, O LORD, reign forever; your throne endures to all generations.” Lamentations 5:19 (ESV)

God is wholly different than that which He created. Whereas all of creation is confined to space and time, God exists beyond them. Time is a consequence of His Being. He is, and, therefore, everything else is, progressing toward that which He has predestined and decreed. We must never lose sight of this remarkable truth about the nature of God, knowing that we, as His beloved, can become overwhelmed by the present and lose perspective. What an encouragement it is, however, for His children in the midst of doubt to remember the sovereign hand of the Lord by which our steps are directed and our lives secured.

Child of God, take comfort in the nature of God. Remember His eternality and rest in His authority for all time over that which He created. Further, as a subject in the Kingdom of God, never fail, regardless of circumstance, to serve with gladness our King of glory. Building His Kingdom is our chief concern, knowing that in building His Kingdom we bring about peace and security as we destroy the effects of sin and death.

The Lord is a mighty King, who reigns for all of eternity. May we take comfort in our protector and serve gladly our gracious sovereign.

The Steadfast Love of the Lord

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’” Lamentations 3:22-24 (ESV)

Every morning, including this very morning, we as the children of God must rise to the fresh and glorious provision of God’s faithfulness, relying upon it and nothing else for our spiritual sustenance. Like manna from heaven, the Lord lavishes us with the fullness of His character in order for our souls to be completely satisfied. We never have to worry if the provision will cease nor whether or not it will be able to fill. The Lord has promised His mercy every morning, and, as we have seen in chapters past, His promises never fail.

What do you rely on, dear child of God, to face the worries of each day? What source of hope do you have in the  midst of uncertainty? As the Lord Himself said in a parable to us all, rain comes into every life and threatens the foundation of our spiritual house. The key for the house’s survival is the strength of its foundation. Is your foundation built upon the rock? Do you trust Him alone to daily see you through the floods that come your way?

Although your path may seem dark, although there may seem much to lament, find hope in these beautiful, inspired words. The Lord’s love never ceases and His mercies never come to an end. They are tied to His eternal character and are, thus, eternal themselves. He showers them upon us every morning, as He promised He would. Therefore, may we look to Him alone for satisfaction and endurance, following faithfully His calling upon our lives as He faithfully blesses His beloved.
